Location...
Bocombe Mill Cottage is located in a secluded wooded valley close to Bideford Bay on the north west Devon coast, near to the famous old ports of Barnstaple and Bideford. Sailing ships left Bideford in the 17C bound for Virginia carrying pottery (and butter from Ireland), returning with tobacco. The tiny harbour close by at Clovelly still supports fishing boats.
There are distant views of the neighboring village from the hilltop of Bocombe Mill Cottage grounds and you'll probably meet the other residents - ten friendly goats, white Indian Runner ducks, a flock of egg-laying Black Rock hens, Sophie, a rare breed Gloucester Old Spot pig and a couple of lambs, plus two families of brightly coloured bantams which wander around the grounds.
Guided walks of the gardens can be arranged for groups of ten or more. |
