Such as Dartington Crystal furnaces at Great
Torrington, the port towns of Bideford (a town of unappreciated architectural

Tintagel, wild Dartmoor, Exmoor and Bodmin Moor are all nearby. Also
visit Hartland Point with its lighthouse, shipwrecks and stunning
cliffs and nearby Hartland Quay with its waterside inn. |

WALKS

The
cottage and gardens are set in a secluded wooded valley, approximately
1 mile from the sea; the coast can be approached only by well made
footpaths, traversing National Trust ancient oak woodlands. The South
West Coastal Footpath meets the Bocombe footpath at Peppercombe, or
at Bucks Mills if approaching from the west. |

TO LUNDY |
Take the ferry
from Bideford to isolated Lundy Island for the day. Enjoy spectacular
coastal views from the ship, cliff top walking and amazing sea bird
colonies. If your sea legs are not up to it, there are two helicoptor
services that can transport you in minutes to Lundy's panoramic views. |

A GOOD DAY'S EXCURSION
Drive down into Cornwall for full day visits to The Eden Project, or Lands
End, St Ives for the Tate Gallery, Padstow for Rick Stein's famous Seafood Restaurant; the county of Cornwall is just down the lanes from Bocombe.

Tarka Trail runs close to Bocombe for long distance, traffic free
cycling. Or just take to the famous Devon lanes. Cycle hire is available locally. |
