Now out of the cold winter (we hope) brings the burst of spring flowers. Narcissus Tete-a-Tete are our first of the daffodil family. The odd camellia bud has burst too, particularly on Camellia japonica alba simplex, though by the look of the browned petals they ventured out a little too soon! In the frost prone meadow at the bottom of the valley, in what will be deep shade of the tree lined lane, the tight, pale yellow flower heads of Petasites japonicus giganteus have popped just out of the ground. Misleading small eruptions of flowers that will be followed in a month or so by the huge leaves that give this plant its name! Catch up with a picture of this plant on our new web page ”Photo diary”
